The Old Man at the Bus Stop
Every morning I wait for the number seven bus at the stop near my home. Last Monday, an old man with a walking stick was standing beside me in the rain.
When the bus came, it was crowded, but a young woman stood up and gave him her seat. The old man thanked her again and again, and his wet hat dripped on the floor.
Then he opened his bag and took out some small paper flowers to give her. He said he made them at home because he had nothing else to offer.
The whole bus went quiet for a second, and then people began to smile. I got off at my stop thinking that kindness can be small and still very bright.
