The School Garden

Behind our classroom building there is a small garden that belongs to our class. Every Friday afternoon we spend an hour looking after the plants there.

在教学楼后面，有一个属于我们班的小菜园。每周五下午，我们会花一个小时照料那里的植物。

At the beginning, our garden looked sad, because the soil was hard and dry. We pulled out the weeds, carried water in old buckets, and planted some tomato seeds.

刚开始，菜园看起来没什么生气，因为土壤又硬又干。我们拔掉杂草，用旧水桶提水，还种下了一些西红柿种子。

For two weeks nothing happened, and some of us thought the seeds were dead. Then one morning we saw tiny green leaves pushing up through the wet earth.

两个星期里什么都没发生，有人以为种子已经死了。后来有一天早上，我们看见小小的绿叶从湿润的土里钻了出来。

By the end of the term we had enough tomatoes to share with the whole school. I learned that most good things need time, water, and a lot of patience.

到学期末，我们收获的西红柿多到可以和全校分享。我明白了，大部分美好的事情都需要时间、水和很多耐心。
